Olá pessoal,

Vejam a frase abaixo:

Eu realmente não preciso aprender Russo, mas ser fluente neste idioma, é uma meta pessoal para mim.

Algo similar em Inglês?

Valeus

In addition to the above comment (and then, cinnamon as always is a bright guy with such insightful answers):

I do not really learn Russian because I have to, but being fluent in this language is a personal challenge.
I don´t really learn Russian because I need to, but I want to be fluent in this language. Just for intellectual challenge! [1]
I do not really need to learn Russian, but being fluent in this language is a personal goal of mine. [2]

aside notes:
If we contrast [1] and [2], I would favor "I don´t really learn Russian because I need to" - DON´T sounds more informal. Conversely, DO NOT would be more academical.

In [2], "I do not really need"...can be understood as if you have an "I don´t care whether I learn it or not, it´s inconsequential to me...etc.."
One could have second thoughts if you were INTO the learning or it was just for fun or some other motivation. That is, what would you do to for your goal? Sometimes this can make a difference!

Still, in [2] my choice of words changed a little bit. With "being fluent in this language is a personal goal of mine." hints that you don´t have solely the goal of being fluent in Russian; doing so is just one of your goals. Since "is a personal goal of mine." translates into Portuguese as "...é uma das minhas metas pessoais."
