Eu também compreendo essa expressão no sentido de algo muito penoso, que está sendo muito custoso para a pessoa. É interessante que aqui usamos o verbo “vencer”, o que dá a impressão de que a pessoa está sobrecarregada, sendo “vencida” por uma tarefa árdua, como trocar fraldas, ou por uma demanda muito grande, como a demanda dos torcedores do Atlético Mineiro em relação à oferta de camisas.
No sentido de “algo que está sendo muito custoso”, encontrei esta expressão:
