Hey! Another way to say the same thing:

It takes one to know one.

Sorry, I respectfully disagree... it's not the same idiom!

But it means the same thing, doesn't it? Take a look at what I found:

"The person who expressed criticism has similar faults to the person being criticized. This classic retort to an insult dates from the early 1900s. For example, You say she's a terrible cook? It takes one to know one! For a synonym, see pot calling the kettle black." (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ ... o+know+one)

I see both expressions as synonyms.
I'm sorry if I'm wrong. I wasjust trying to help.

Sorry! I don't know about that as well... But I was wondering, perhaps your expression means:

Comer um kilo de sal ( manja?? No Brazil usa-se essa expressão para declarar que você num pode julgar uma pessoa sem comer um kilo de sal com a pessoa. E levando em consideração que comemos apenas uma "pitada" de sal por dia, então levaria ANOS pra conhecer essa pessoa.

I'm not concern about you guy! I really have no idea neither!
I was talking with my teachers about this expression (“The pot calling the kettle black.").
Here in USA is a correct way, However, this is an expression and then I can not say if is correct in other English speaking countries.
Thanks everyone for different opinion and this is the way to improve your English.

Hummm! Thanx 4 that buddy! That is a nice one too.

Take care yourself.

Just a small correction about your chat:

You wrote: (This is an expression that usually use here that learned last week)
It's not sounds very well for me. Ask your teacher about that too.

Let me take a whack at it.

"I learned this locally used expression [in Maryland] last week."
"I learned this expression commonly used in Maryland last week."

jjcorrea, what correction would you suggest? Thank you.
Actually the both sounds well for me...

Maybe the second one is better! But I really like both.
