My suggestion:

This study is about an action research intervention of a qualitative nature with a descriptive comparative approach...

I agree with Breckenfeld´s translation, but somehow being a terse one it could be expanded further a bit.
So here you go:
This work is an action research, with the goal of improving strategies already in place, it is a comparative research in which the improvement and betterment of practices is measured.
It counted with the meaningful contribution of all stakeholders to scrutinise data and assess the development of the professional practices along with practice education (meaning organisational learning as a whole).

Este estudo trata-se de uma pesquisa-ação de intervenção, de natureza qualitativa, com abordagem descritivo-comparativa.
My answer takes into account that all action-research is an intervention per se, since it is made on the grounds of continuous improvement, and it´s qualitative in kind, etc. So, in a way, the description could be the one in italicized letters, not that you can´t go further in an dissertation text in Portuguese (what I am weighing is the English wording/translation).
So, if I am not mistaken or misled, my wording makes sense (despite the fact that I am away from the college benches for eons). Others may give their opinion and polish it further, of course.

It seems like an academic piece of text, and as such it has subtleties and nuances, without context it could go in several directions. A research action in university settings would be different from a study on industrial processes, and so on...
