Como dizer "Pode ser" em inglês

Hi !
Ah.. Tipo nessa ocasião :
Que caneta você vai querer ?
Pode ser esta ?

Ah... Outra ocasião:
Você vai querer o livro emprestado ?
Pode ser.

E então....... ?
Thanks

Hi there!

Anyway...

Que caneta você vai querer ?
Pode ser esta ?

Which pen would like?
Could it be this one?

Você vai querer o livro emprestado ?
Pode ser.

Would you like to borrow that book?

Why not...

Take care,

Daniel

Q-Which pen would like?
A-May I take this one?
A-Would this one be okay?

Could it be this one? (This sounds nice in Portuguese, but I wouldn't use it in English.)

I've heard "Pode ser?" used in another context. I want you to do something. I tell you what I want done, but to soften it (so it doesn't sound like an order), I add "Pode ser?" The equivalent in English would be "Is that all right with you? Is that okay with you? Would you mind doing that?)
Hey there,

ex:
-Would you like to go to the party? (Você gostaria de ir para a festa?)
-Sure! Why not? (Claro!

Regards!

I regard "Pode ser" replies as weak and very reticent. Give them a wide berth. You could dynamically perk up conversation by choosing other words. In that particular case not only does Israel's vivacious reply "Sure! Why not?" break the monotony, it also adds zeal to the ongoing conversation.

So do all the other suggested replies on the thread.

Sorry, Pondedaniel, but "Could it be this one?" sounds very Portuglish to me. Maybe I would use it if threatened with a gun, I were offered a large sum of money to do so, or kidnappers were holding my son for ransom. It simply doesn't sound natural to my ears. Maybe my ears are just werid. No offense. When offered food or drink that I did not want, I used to answer "Nao, obrigado, estou bem," A girlfriend told me several times that she had no idea what I was saying or what I meant. I was using Portuguese words but the answer (thought) was in English. "I am fine" or "I am okay" is a perfectly good response in English. It isn't enough to translate a thought or comment, it should be consistent with the culture of the language. My response was not. If you want to ask "Could it be this one?", you will be understood. I am not attempting to force you to do one thing or another. I am just expressing an opinion. OK?

Márcio, I agree with your observation, but weak or evasive answers exist. I'm sure you've also heard, "I'mnot saying that I will and I am not saying that I won't." How's that for wishy-washy?

Thomas, I don't pretend I may not have heard it somewhere. In fact, I may and then again I may not. ;)

Well, Márcio, you could be right, but then you could be wrong. Or maybe you just in between somewhere, lost in the mystic world of I-want-to-make-this-perfectly-clear: I-haven't-made-up-my-mind-but-I'm-not-sure.

Pessoal,

Boa sorte!

I was watching The Waltons season 1 episode 1 and there is a moment in the beginning when John boy says "I reckon".

Is it Ok?

O Google Tradutor me mostrou Can be?, inclusive com o sinalzinho de verificado pela comunidade, mas sei que está errado. Então acredito que seria "Is it Ok?", certo?

Mas "Is it Ok?" ão seria "Esta bem?" ?

It's ok? Seria errado?

Thanks.
