Good thinking, Frank.
From a Coldplay song:
"I'd rather be a comma than a full stop"
(Every teardrop is a waterfall)
Teacher,

alexandrov,
Os dois pontos (colon) são utilizados para introduzir listagebs: There is a choice of main course: roast beef, turkey or omelette.

The school uniform consists of navy blue skirt or trousers; grey, white or pale blue shirt; navy jumper or cardigan.

Her skirt was blue with white dots? Her skirt was blue with white spots?
Thnk you all!

This is a closure on relationship between us.

As duas expressões valem. "A spotted horse", for instance.

This seems like a question about classroom language management. There are at least two dictation protocols that come to mind:

In dictating a text, after saying "period", the expectation is that the text is ongoing, and nothing more need be said. However, if a new paragraph is to be begun, then say "Period. And Paragraph." This is sufficient cue for the start of another line of text.

If you, as the teacher, is dictating something in "point form", meaning that each new "point" is to run on a new line, then you can say
"Period. And New Point", for instance.

There are other options, of course. It's up to the teacher to teach the requisite instructional commands as part of the lesson.
