May I ask where you read/heard this? I don't recall ever seeing/jhearing it before among Americans. It is common, however, to say took pennies, charged pennies, etc.
Price – not salty, nor a bargain price) Nem salgado nem a preço de banana.
And may I ask where you read/heard "salty" used like this? I don't recall ever seeing/jhearing it before among Americans. "Salty" usually means merely that something has a lot of salt in it. Bacon can be salty. Biscuits can be salty. It can also mean something related to the sea. "Salty talk/words" usually refers to profane, vulgar language. Let's face it; sailors are not saints. And I believe "salty" can mean a horse that is not easy to work/deal with.
I have no desire to offend you. If you know something that I don't know, I want to learn it.
