No Brasil costuma-se chamar o técnico de professor (Professor tite, Professor Luxemburgo, Professor Cuca...)
Ex. - Se eu vou ser titular ou não, isso depende do Professor Tite.
E os jogadores ingleses com referência a seus técnicos?

I believe the word master, or even soccer-master would be more appropriate.
