Como dizer "puxar" em inglês

According to the intensity there're three main kinds of "puxões":

Jerk (verb, noun)
verb [usually +adv. / prep.] to move or to make sth move with a sudden short sharp movement: He grabbed a handful of hair and jerked at it. (Ele agarrou um punhado de cabelo e puxou). PS.: jerk also can mean "empurrar" e "arremessar".If you want to know more go here: http://www.oup.com/oald-bin/web_getald7index1a.pl

Tug (verb, noun)
verb (at / on) sth to pull sth hard, often several times: [v] She tugged at his sleeve to get his attention. (Ela puxou sua manga para chamar sua atenção).

Haul (rebocar) (verb, noun)
verb to pull sth/sb with a lot of effort: The car was hauled out of the river. (puxar com o sentido de rebocar, devido a força colocada).
