Olá Jliu,

Há um provérbio em inglês que se aproxima bastante:

'A closed mouth catches no flies'.

-->it is wiser and safer to keep your opinions to yourself.

Boa sorte!

My suggestion:

He who says what he likes, shall hear what he doesn't like...

Bye!

Still waters run deep = It is ok to be silent, then everyone assumes that you are a deep thinker. If you open your mouth, they may see that you don't know much.

This is tricky to find an equivalent in Portuguese, it would depend on the situation.

Anyway, one alternative would be to use the aphorism "talkers never find the listeners they desire, listeners always find…[1]", meaning that opinion of a Redditer "if you are unwilling to listen to contradictions that oppose your reasoning, keep your mouth shut..." :-)

[1] Somehow, that amounts to: if you are willing to pause to listen and ponder to what others might say (along with their needs), you better off in the process.

Well...let's wait for more comments and insights, the more hands holding the snake the better! :-)
