Em português, muitas vezes a gente escuta aquela famosa historinha permeada de ironia:
"Ué, cortou o cabelo?"
"Não! Tirei pra lavar!"
Existiria alguma equivalência no inglês?

In English the sarcasm could pass without being noticed/detected, but here you go:
"did you had/get a haircut?"
"No, I took out the hair to wash/to do the washing!"
But the one that did the asking could joke that "he/she knew it was a wig!" or something like that.

POWER QUESTIONS
