England's goalkeeper Robert Green concedes a howler against USA.

Like Capello said, a keeper can make a howler or a striker can miss a sitter, but the keeper will always take more flak. (www.fansown.co.uk)

Enjoy!

You can say "a goalkeeping mistake".

Also,

Goalkeeper gaffe = This phrase is used when a goalkeeper makes a blunder/a big error and it is sometimes referred to as dropping a clanger.

ex: The goalkeeper produced the goalkeeping gaffe when he let the ball slip from his hands into the net to put their rival 2 x 0 up.

A howler would be indeed a "howling mistake", as goalkeepers are the first target when a goal is made, then...
A howler is almost synonymous as a goalkeeper howler these days, but the word can be found in basketball reffering to a referee´s mistake as well.

National Football League fans used to precision may be yelling for the replay official to correct an obvious howler from a referee.
