soil
ground
land
floor
clod

Obrigado.

Há (pequenas) diferenças entre uma e outra.

Às vezes podemos empregar ground por soil.

Melânio dug into the ground outside his house = ... into the soil outside...
The astronauts stepped on firm soil = ... on firm ground ... on firm land (A preferência recai em land)
On analyzing the soil, they found a strange substance (Aqui a preferência recai em soil. Porque eu não sei.)
On analyzing the soil, they found this big clod = ... encontraram um grande torrão

There are no simple rules for these words. In some contexts, one word can be interchanged with another. To understand their uses, you need to read and study how they are used in different contexts.

Segundo o artigo Ampliando o Vocabulário: GROUND and FLOOR a melhor tradução é ground.
