Contração You Have (You've)
Hi Everyone !
In my last class I had to write one text for progress check, then I wrote one phrase like that:
"So You've to study harder .... "
Then my instructor (Native) said that I can't use contraction in this case ( have to ) but he didn't tell me why...
Someone can tell me why I can't use contraction in this case ?
Regards,

Isso normalmente acontece 1) no Present Perfect e 2) na estrutura "I've got to...".
"Have" é o verbo principal.
I've been studying really hard lately = Correto (Present Perfect)
I've got to study harder = Correto. "Have" é um auxiliar.
I have to study harder = Correto.
Bons estudos.

'So you absolutely believe in God?' I asked 'You've no doubts?
''We've got to do it, Ellie. We've no choice!
''I've no time to do such a thing!...''
''What you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful..'' (Hozier- Take Me To Church)
Ou ainda em perguntas.
''Have you no idea that you're in deep?'' (Arctic Monkeys- Do I wanna know)
''Have you a horse I can borrow?''
