A house in its most comum sense is a collection of walls, buit by the human beings, which funtion is to make room for the living of one or more people, so that they will have shelter from the natural phenomena, such as rainfall, wind, heat and cold.

Some remarks:
Make room for is the suitable phrasal verb to describe the action of providing space for someone or something.
Phenomena is the plural of phenomenon.
