The teaching of reading and writing is the subject of several studies and publications reflecting a constant concern of educators and researchers with the teaching of these skills. In Brazil, however, there are no assessment tools for reading levels that the educator can use, nor large studies that describe how long it takes for children to progress in this area. The goal of this study was to find strategies that help teachers to help their students excel in reading.
Working with children is really gratifying. During the day-to-day in the classroom, we are challenged all the time. And it is this challenge that makes things possible. The educator must be prepared to fill in the gaps, which may be cognitive, emotional, social or psychological. The student comes to school eager to learn, to know more than he knows, he's hungry to learn, to know, speak and listen. It is this desire to keep the educator going.
