Tendo em conta a natureza finita das fontes de energia fóssil, o seu nocivo contributo para as alterações climáticas e o período de crescente escassez em que estamos a entrar, esta dissertação apresenta as energias renováveis e a mobilidade eléctrica como parte da solução para uma nova era energética.

Ela inicia-se com uma secção sobre o panorama energético actual e os contributos dados pelas descobertas decorrentes da primeira e segunda revolução industrial. Analisam-se depois a evolução do veículo eléctrico, e das suas diferentes arquitecturas bem como dos sistemas de armazenamento de energia e infra-estruturas e metodologias de carga. No capítulo seguinte são apresentadas tecnologias de armazenamento de pequena e larga escala já existentes e em fase de desenvolvimento, destas últimas são exploradas as mais promissoras que melhor poderão ajudar na integração das energias renováveis e da mobilidade eléctrica no sistema energético e no cotidiano da civilização.

No final é projectada e simulada uma bateria constituída por supercondensadores cuja função é substituir a bateria de um pequeno veículo eléctrico. Neste projecto foram evidenciadas as características desta alternativa e foram comprovadas as vantagens e as desvantagens deste tipo de armazenamento de energia.

Given the finite characteristic of fossil energy sources, its harmful contribution to climate changes and the scarcity increasing period in which we are entering, this dissertation presents renewable energy and electric mobility as part of the solution to a new energy age.

It begins with a section on the current energy landscape and the contributions made by the findings arising from the first and second industrial revolution. It analyzes after the evolution the electric vehicle, and their different architectures and systems for energy storage and infrastructure and methodologies of charge. The following chapter presents storage technologies of small and large scale already existing and under development, this latter are explored the most promising that better may help the integration of renewable energy and electric mobility in the energy system and the daily civilization.

At the end is designed and simulated a battery consisting of supercapacitors whose function is to replace the battery of a small electric vehicle. In this project were highlighted features of this alternative and have been proven the advantages and disadvantages of this type of energy storage.

The most promising ones are explored and that may help the integration of renewable energy, and electric mobility into daily civilization.

In conclusion, a battery consisting of supercapacitors to replace a small electric vehicle's battery is designed and simulated. Alternative features were highlighted in this project, and the advantages and disadvantages of this type of energy storage have been proved .
