Difference between crashed & crash landed

Below follow some sentence examples (which I copied and pasted from the Internet) with either "crashed" or "crash landed":

1) The plane crashed (or crash landed) at San Francisco International Airport in 2013.
2) In 2012, a plane crashed or crash landed about two miles south of the Las Cruces airport.
3) TransAsia flight GE235 has crashed in Taiwan.

The authors (or writers) of sentence examples 1) and 2) used both terms on a single line. But the author (or writer) of sentence example 3) used "crashed" only.

The reader, however, will readily assume all the airplanes in the examples "fell hard on the ground, which lead to their inevitable destruction and the death of all, some or at least one of their passengers."

Still, the question remains. Will ill-fated airplanes or at least those about to make a hard landing "crash" or "crash land"?

Do any of you have any ideas?

Basically crash landing is an "aterrissagem acidentada" and a crash is an "acidente/queda" etc.
An emergency landing may or may not develop into a crash landing.

A crash landing sometimes is an accident which can leave victims or not.

Yes, PP. Should we assume "crashing" involves much more damage with the likely loss of human lives than does (a pilot-guided) "crash landing"?

A crash landing could go wrong and leave victims, etc. But it´s, in a certain way, an attempt to land so we could have two subsets: it would be just a rough landing or a crash landing.
It would be known after the end result.

A crash, in aviation parlance, is an accident, generally involving some kind of impact with the ground or some obstacle. It also may or may not leave victims.

In fact a crash landing is always an emergency landing (see wikipedia link), but the reverse is not always true. Since there are some different kinds of emergency landings. That´s why I have chosen not to oversimplify in such case.

I decided I will use both terms when referring to a sudden or forceful landing or a fateful drop from the skies, leaving passengers little or no choice of survival.
