"to listen to" poderia se entendida pela primeira e " To be listening to" se encaixaria na segunda .

I wascreading this poetry:
Qualquer coisa, seja o que for,
E cala.

I've already explained it to you, but it seems or you didn't read it or you didn't accepted my answer at all.
Poem and poetry are nouns, however:

- Poetry = Poesia [a arte; o gênero]

4th: As a matter of organization, please everytime when you have questions related to a specific poem, I ask you to write all of them down on the same post. I believe it will be easier to comprehend the context and avoid unecessary discussions.
The silence is considered as a fictional character who is paying attention to something. Here, we have a figure of speech called Personification (Personificação (PT) ou Prosopopeia (PT-BR)). Because of that, I still keep my words regarding on the first line of Mário Quintana's poem:
>> There is a great silence which is always listening to (something)...
>> There is a great silence who is always keeping an ear out for (something)...

5th: I've found some websites where we can read some of Quintana's poems in English. I hope you enjoy it!
