I were/was have/had

Eu estava montando algumas frases aqui para praticar o meu inglês e me surgiu algumas dúvidas.
Teria como vocês me ajudarem a traduzir algumas frases?
Se eu quisesse dizer
"Eu estava tendo dificuldade até você me ajudar... " - "I was struggling to understand..." ou "I've been struggling to understand..."
"Minha casa nunca foi roubada" "My house have never been robbed" ou "My house had never been robbed" ou "My house was never robbed" ?

It depends on the focus you want emphasize.

Let's say you moved to another city, so you live in another house. Then you could be stating "my house was never robbed." it is a finished event.

Whereas if you still live in the house, chances are that you let us know that "my house has never been robbed." (it has never been until now, I don't know if it will in the future, of course). [meaning "nunca foi"]

In case your house was robbed yesterday, you can say "my house had never been robbed" (up to now, see?).

That's a kick-off, other may improve the answer and give further insights.
