Tipos de Carnes em inglês: Lista com tradução e pronúncia

Muitas pessoas só dizem "fillet" para se referir a filet mignon.

Picanha, do jeito que tem no brasil, simplesmente não é comum. A tradução seria "top sirloin cap", mas aqui os açougueiros tiram aquela camada de gordura e então não é a mesma coisa. Um bife dessa corte é o "culotte steak".

Peito de frango seria "breast" e não "chest".

Tenho bastante para adicionar à lista, pois trabalhei num açougue 3 anos. (mas agora mesmo estou ocupado).

This would be hard to find in most butcher shops, so unless you need it for a translation job, I suggest you choose something else for dinner!

And I've never heard of 'black' meat, just 'dark' meat. White meat comes from a chicken's breast or wing, dark meat comes from the thigh and leg.

Originalmente se escreve "fillet"; nos EUA pode ser escrito "filet". Eu já ouvi uma americana usar "filet" na minha frente. Não há porque não ser usado. Inclusive, há boas definições e exemplos nos dicionários Oxford, Cambridge, Longman, etc.

This morning, I was just searching about food over the internet when I found this great website, which helped me a lot. So to start my participation here, already like a member, I'll collaborate with this topic.

During the searches I read in the Merriam Dictionary the entries for "meat" and 3 of them caught my attention:

1 - “White meat”;
2 - “Black meat” and
3 - “Red meat”.

Check theirs definitions in Portuguese:
1 - carne que vem do peito ou outras partes espessas de um frango, peru, etc.; carne que é de cor mais clara que as outras partes quando cozida.
2 - carne das pernas e coxas de frangos, perus, patos, etc.
3 - carne que é vermelha quando crua - usada principalmente para se referir a carne bovina.

It isn't "Black meat", the correct is "Dark meat".

Gostaria de saber se posso usar só filet, para me referir a filé mignon. Será que é comum usar a palavra "filet" nos restaurantes dos Estados Unidos. E como digo picanha? Bife de picanha?
