Eu sempre interpretei o "to look" como algo mais físico e o "to seem" como algo mais abstrato. Tipo assim:
You look tired (você parece cansado)
He seems to be a nice guy (ele parece ser um cara legal)
Mas eu estive observando uma gramática que comprei nos E.U., e num trecho é dito exatamente isto:
Se alguém souber de algo que possa diferenciar uma da outra, seria interessante.

A conclusão que eu tiro disso é que é basicamente a mesma coisa.look + adjective = to seem
He looks unhappy
They don't look interested

Hi Nat, lets see if it helps.
Look: see .To turn your eyes towards something, so that you can see it
Seem: to appear to exist or be true, or to have a particular quality
I think it is important you know all the truth at once, otherwise you will bring it up again in the future. So observe:
seem, appear, look, sound
Seem and appear have the same meaning but appear is more formal
• They seem upset.
• This appears to be a good solution.
You use look to say how someone or something seems to you when you look at them
• Maureen looked tired.
• That book looks good.
You use sound to say how someone or something seems to you when you hear or read about them, or hear them
• She sounds a lovely person.
• The party sounded great.
• He sounded tired.
GRAMMAR
Seem can be followed by an adjective or an adjective and noun
• She seemed happy.
• He seems a nice man.
Seem can also be followed by a verb in the infinitive
• His story seems to be true.
• You seem to think it's my fault.
!! Seem can be followed by as if or as though but not just by as
• It seems a small thing (NOT it seems as a small thing), but it's very important.
• It seemed as if he wanted us to leave (NOT it seemed as he wanted ...).
See you around guys.

Pessoal,
Complementando,
"Seem" e "look" podem ser usados da mesma forma para indicar as impressões que você tem de algo ou alguém ao ver, olhar."Seem" além disso, serve para você dizer suas impressões subjetivas, sua opinião de algo que não necessariamente foi visto, mas deduzido.
Bons estudos!

Olá pessoal,
Então eu posso: '' You don't seem to like him so much'' - Você não parece gostar tanto dele.
Tá certo?

INGLÊS PARA VIAGENS
Eu usava sempre seems like... Nunca ninguem me corrigiu
You are seems like Batman
You are seems like Batman
Essa frase está totalmente errada... "seems" nao se usa com "you", o "s" no final de verbos funciona apenas para os pronomes he/she/it, e "you are seem" nao existe. Se voce estiver se referindo a "parecer" em questão de aparência, sempre se usa look: you look like batman.
