News no plural

Se tiver que escolher entre "how much" e "how many", escolha "how much", porém "how much news do you have for me?" não é uma opção amplamente usada e natural, neste contexto, a meu ver.

- information or reports about recent events.
- a report of a recent event; information.

Refazendo a tradução da frase "The news is good": (a) "a notícia é boa", (b) "as notícias são boas". Vai depender do contexto.

Longman / Oxford

The news is good. [ = As notícias são boas. A notícia é boa.]

Lembre-se de que você não pode dizer "a news", "one news", "two news", "ten news", etc. No lugar, por exemplo, de "two news" (duas notícias) e "ten news" (dez notícias), diga "two pieces of news" e "ten pieces of news":
  • "Two pieces of news this week illustrated how much progress California is making on one of the main goals of the 2010 federal healthcare law." [Los Angeles Times - USA]
  • "So, here are the top ten pieces of news we have found for you." [thecelebritycafe.com - USA]
  • They reported three different pieces of news about the same fact.

What's new?: what things have happened since we last met? [Thefreedictionary]

Exemplos de uso:

Mary: Greetings, Jane. What's new? Jane: Nothing much. Bob: What's new? Tom: Not a whole lot.

Outras possibilidades: tell me the news; what's the news?; what's the latest?

Ex.: How are you? Tell me the news.

Dica adicional:

Como utilizar a palavra "News":

A. Do you have any news to report? [Você tem alguma notícia para relatar?]
B. This news is very interesting. [Esta notícia é muito interessante. Estas notícias são muito interessantes.]
C. Have you heard the news? Pat's leaving! [Ficou sabendo da notícia? Pat está indo embora!]
D. What's the big/latest news? [Qual é a grande/mais recente notícia?]
E. Breaking News. [Dando a notícia. Dando as notícias. Notícias de última hora. Plantão de notícias.]

Could be "the story appeared in at least three newspapers, O Dia, O Fluminense and A Noticia" (could it be that it had appeared at the O Dia and then having being reprinted by the others).

The story appeared in three newspaper, namely, O Dia and then was picked up by O Fluminense and A Noticia. (it wasn´t a reprint but all of them had their own version in a separate news item).

The news made it to three major Newspapers, namely O Estado de Sao Paulo, O Dia and Jornal do Comercio. (the news here is likely to be previously made known, about the economy the devaluating of currency, or some gossip news about some star, what you have).
Eu agradeço mesmo pela sua colaboração, amigo PPaulo, mas me parece que, da forma como você colocou a única frase que se encaixa na ideia original original é a segunda (The story appeared in three newspaper, namely, O Dia and then was picked up by O Fluminense and A Noticia. (it wasn´t a reprint but all of them had their own version in a separate news item).)

"The story appeared in three newspapers." [1] would do.

[1]or "...in three major newspapers. (if you wish).

I've read three different news reports about the same fact" estaria correta?

A opção "I've read three different news reports about the same fact" é possível, mas não expressa bem a ideia pretendida.

Recomendo:
They reported three different pieces of news about the same fact.
P. The last news item was about the flooding. [A última notícia foi sobre a enchente.]
Q. There were two pieces of news that we found worrying. [Houve duas notícias que nós achamos preocupantes.]
Bons estudos.
