"i've been dared (challenged/defied) not to stay home all week long"
"i've been dared to not stay home all week long"
estava um dia super quente e todos estavam indo nadar, fui desafiado a nao
ser um deles e ficar de fora...
"he challenged me not to dive into this lake"
"he challenged me to not dive into this lake"

Para mim as duas formas são possíveis no contexto apresentado.Pode haver mudança no sentido, dependendo do modo com que se use uma ou outra.O Google dá exemplos claros de que podem ter o mesmo uso,mas,para mim,"not to" é mais comum do que "to not".
It challenged me not to be like one of those guys on the sidelines.(Google)
A friend once challenged me not to read anything at all for a whole day.(Google)
God has challenged me to not settle for average in my life.(Google)
David really challenged me to not follow the pattern he saw me falling into.(Google)
