Eu não ouvi o podcast e por isso nem devia estar aqui dando pitaco. Mas, "on behalf of" = "em prol de"? Confesso que me pareceu bastante estranho. Sempre vi "on behalf of" no sentido de "no lugar de", "representando tal pessoa".
Dei uma geral aqui nos dicionários. O que mais esclareceu foi o The Free Online Dictionary: "A traditional rule holds that in behalf of and on behalf of have distinct meanings. In behalf of means "for the benefit of," as in We raised money in behalf of the earthquake victims. On behalf of means "as the agent of, on the part of," as in The guardian signed the contract on behalf of the minor child. The two meanings are quite close, however, and the phrases are often used interchangeably, even by reputable writers." Que bom que o "reputable writers" me livra da culpa de estar questionando o inglês de um nativo (Tim Barret) - atrevida, eu?.
