Por que ''have us'' e não ''we have'' nesta frase?
I was very confused when I've seen this phrase in a book:
The reasons we give for why we can't learn a language often "have us"' second-guessing ourselves.
I did not understand this construction "have us".
I wish somebody could answer me this question.
Thanks in advance!

We could redo it to "often will have us second-guessing ourselves".
Meaning that somehow we would like that our second-guesse were realistic ones, generally the "have us" have a ring of "gostaria que..." (isto é, que outros tentam nos convencer, mas nesse caso é "us" daí as aspas - "nós" mesmos tentando nos enganar/sabotar).
