Tem um outra expressão que é "Throw a Party" (Fazer a festa!) é bem comum de ouvir isso também.

Uhm, good to know that... There's a song, from McFly, which says:
"Everybody wants to know her name
I threw a house party and she came"
Before, I didn't understand the meaning of "to throw a party", although I thought it was something like that. I just didn't feel free to use this expression, you know.
