"In the end" x "At the end": Quando utilizar

When do I use each one?

Thank you in advance.

By the way: is it correct say "When do I use each other?". It doesn't sound strange to me...

Olá Tiago,

Usa-se "in the end" nestes casos, normalmente sem "of":

A) In the end, she found it. (No final ela encontrou.)
B) What did you do in the end? (O que você fez no final?)

Usa-se "at the end" com a preposição "of":

A) At the end of the game. (No final do jogo.)
B) They talked a lot at the end of the film. (Eles falaram muito no final do filme.)

Bons estudos!

Off the top of my head, I tend to use "in the end" to mean "finally," "in conclusion," "to sum up," "all things considered."

"At the end" seems more suitable to decribe a location or position in relation to some larger agglomeration.

Examples:

In the end she decided against going.
After all the calculations, in the end we arrived at the same solution.
There is no other solution in the end.

"At the end of the line, young man," he said.
This car belongs at the end of the parade.
There´s a grocery store at the end of this block.

They placed me at the end of the line -- which is, in the end, where I really belong because I'm the tallest.

This sentence is at the end of this explanation! Have fun!

You´d want to ask

When do I use each?

The complete thought would be:

When do i use each one? (cada um)
Olá!

1. In the end : afinal, por fim
Ex.: I really don't like rock, but in the end i went with them to the show.

2. At the end: no final de...
Ex.: When you get at the end of the line you leave off the bus and give me a call. I go meeting you there.

Espero que sirva de ajuda!

This would be better:
When you get to the end of the line, get off the bus and give me a call. I will meet you there.
