Practicing x Training: Qual a diferença

For "aquecimento" I would use "warm up".
Ex: "The players are warming up now."

For "treinos para sua preparação" you might use "training".
Ex: "One of the most important responsibilities of the coach is planning the athlete's training programme."

Hope it helps. ;)
Olá Tiago,

Valeu! E quanto ao practing? Em que situação usá-lo?

Acho importante diferenciar os substantivos dos verbos.

Verbos
He's training for the competition.
He's practicing for the competition.
Pra mim, têm sentido muito semelhante. Aguardemos os colegas confirmarem.

Substantivos
Training = treinamento, treino. He 's here attending a training.
Practicing = existe como substantivo?

"To train" is to learn, get into good physical condition, etc. It is used for sports, the military, occupations, etc.
(1) Jack is in training to be an auto mechanic.
(2) Fred took his Army Basic Training at Fort Hood.
(3) Melanie is a professional tennis player, now in training in Florida for the next season.

However....

(4) Kathy trains dogs and horses. (Not "Kathy practices dogs and horses.")
(5) Quero treinar meu inglês. = I want to practice English. (practice, not train)
(6) "Aquecimento" may be a part of training and practice, but it is NOT training or practice. It is only a part.
Tom is warming up for the game that will start in five minutes.
Terry is going through some warm-ups before training begins.
(7) To go to training, a training session, a training seminar, a training program. Not "to go to a training".
(8) Connie is training William to use the new computer program. Not "Connie is practice William to use the new computer program." ("To train" can mean "to teach", but "to practice" is NOT used to mean "to teach".)

As Flávia says, often "to train" and "to practice" are interchangeable. Often, not always. I have tried to give some examples.
"To practice" is to learn through repetition, and it is a part of training. In other words, the meaning is more restrictive, more specific.
(1) Jack is in training to be an auto mechanic. This morning he is practicing repairing a transmission.
(2) Fred took his Army Basic Training at Fort Hood. He practiced driving a tank until he was an expert driver.
(3) Melanie is a professional tennis player, now in training in Florida for the next season. At the moment, she is on the court practicing her back swing.
(4) I want to practice my English. Not "I want to train my English."
I am practicing the violin. Not "I am training the violin."
(5) To go to practice, a practice session, a practice. I don't recall hearing "to go to a practice seminar, practice program."

Are you confused now?

Quite the opposite, Thomas. That was very enlightening.

Great examples Thomas!

In general, that happens with Portuguese as well, that means, usually "praticar" and "treinar" are interchangeable.
However, one example that is worth mention in Portuguese would be this one:

"Eu quero praticar meu inglês." = "Eu quero treinar meu inglês." (In Portuguese, differently than in English, you could use both without any problem).

Remember guys: "The main rule is that there is no rule."
That's especially true in languages. :)

Hope it helps. ;)

Tiago, your comment was very interesting. Just when we think we have a rule, we find exceptions for it.

We ought to write a book about all our observations. There is a LOT of very important and interesting information posted in this forum.
