E no inglês, qual é a regência do verbo "To prefer": é "Prefer than", "Prefer of", é como?

Eu prefiro andar ... correr.
Eu prefiro andar calçado...descalço.
Temos várias opções em inglês:
I prefer sweets instead of salty treats.
I prefer sweets rather than salty treats.
I prefer going by train rather than by boat.
I prefer walking to running.
I prefer to walk and not to run.
I prefer this over that.
I prefer mustard over ketchup. (Also: instead of, rather than)
And probably others I can't think of at the moment.
