Significado de All but gone
Gostaria de uma ajuda para entender o significado de "all but gone". Teoricamente, o termo significa "tudo menos isso", só que isso não se encaixa ao contexto:
"All but gone [certainly rare, to say the least] are the days."
"All but gone [certainly rare, to say the least] are the days."

Alguns exemplos com "all but gone":
By 30 metres down, they're all but gone.
Mas 30 metros mais abaixo, todos já [praticamente] desapareceram.
My options are narrowing, my patience all but gone.
Minhas opções se reduzem, e minha paciência acaba.
Why is all but the cachaça gone?
Por que desapareceu tudo, menos a cachaça?
These have all but gone in Afghanistan, and the European Union is at the moment trying its best--for which all credit to it--to develop these.
O começo deste trecho dá margem a diversas interpretações. Eu, no entanto, só consegui pensar nessa:
"Estes(as) [...] praticamente desaparecerem no Afeganistão..."
