I've got a bad back = Estou com a coluna ruim.
Anna has a bad back = Anna está com a coluna ruim.

"Dar um mau jeito", for instance you are working and suddenly you turn left, right or get down to lift some weight, suddenly you feel a kind of pain and discomfort, that is described in English by many as a "crick" or "stiffness".
What I mean is that sudden move made you "block some movements", if you try, it means trouble, discomfort (similar to the neck stiffness that is associated with restriction of movements).
If you type "dar um jeito" and "bab.la" it will bring 'crick' as a synonym.

In general bad back can be thought as a "coluna ruim" but the verb "have" in "I've" may (or may not) suggest something more recent, so it could also mean "dei um jeito na coluna." (ontem, na semana passada, etc. - I've...".

I see. I just thought you meant it as in fixing or healing it. That's the only context in which I've seen "dar um jeito" being used so that's why it confused me.

I saw that from your comment, unfortunately, there's no way of correcting my previous one. Hence my explanation in the following reply. It was then that I saw it lacked a "mau' in the sentence. :-)
