Falta contexto mas seria o equivalente ao nosso "Fazer besteira"= "meter os pés pelas mãos".
He blundered along the life and ended up in poverty = ele fez besteiras ao longo da vida e acabou na miséria.
He comes blundering along the alley= ele vem caminhando desajeitadamente pelo beco.
