Hmm, from Greek rego (blanket - manto), in Portuguese meaning "manto de alteração" in soil classification parlance. And "lithe" (rock - rocha).
Interesting how you guys are digging deeper these days! I had never seen such word. How come. It was defined by a geologist in 1897!
