Even though a foreign English speaker must know some slang, it's highly recommended not to use them.

Well, I think it's is not usual to speak slangs... But this only you can decide to do or not do. There are many place where you can't talk to this way like in your job, this not sounds good in some places... In other hand, there are some places where this kind of speech is allowed. For instance with your friends enjoying a party... drinking some beer... So, We should be careful where this kind of language is allowed or not.
