Jogando um vídeo game, em um certo momento, um personagem deu a seguinte ordem a seu subordinado:
"You ARE TO kill him and come back to headquarters"
"você DEVE mata-lo e retornar ao quartel"
De imediato, pelo contexto, traduzi como esta acima, usando o verbo DEVER em português.
Minha interpretação esta correta? Eu realmente posso usar esta estrutura para substituir (como uma opção) um modal (should, might, must, may)?
Se a resposta for sim, este tipo de estrutura é usada com frequência (formal ou informalmente) ou seria arcaica?

When you want to say that something is planned to happen or you are giving someone something that has got to be done, you can use the following structure: be + to + verb.
So, If you are such a good dad and want your child to do the homework immediatly, you can tell'm:
"Son, you are to do your homework now or you are not watching tv this night!"
It is used when you want to say that something is planned too. As the following example:
The plane is to take off at 2 o'clock.
