Tell us about a food that is typical from your city.

Answer:

"Cuscuz paulista"
Very different from the northest version, the 'Paulista' cuscuz consists of an assortment of meats, vegetables and cornmeal (farinha de milho). (source = http://www.maria-brazil.org/cuscuz.htm). It looks like a soufflé and is served into slices, like a cake.

Now it's your turn!

Flavia you are going to have to stop talking about food, it makes me hungry and I eat ,and eat, and ... . I am getting very fat! So now it is my turn to get even!

The Florida Gulf Coast, from Perdido Key to Panama City, is famous for it's seafood, especially the fresh: jumbo gulf shrimp, dungeness crab, oysters, grouper, tuna, red snapper, mullett, pompano and cobia. The local seafood resturants serve all of these, when available, plus: Maine lobster, rock lobster, king crab legs, snow crab legs, albacore, swordfish and many other varieties.

Therefore, if you like seafood, the Northwestern Florida Gulf Coast is the place to visit.

Hey, don't blame me for your getting fat!!! ;)
Flavia,

One minor correction, I believe that the correct form in this contex, is you not your, or you could use your tendency to get fat.
Well, here in Brazil, is very typical eat rice and beans together, rice.. must to be part in a food, for it to be good. I can say that is almost the law, haha :D

Bolinho de bacalhau - deep-fried codfish balls. Once you mix the cod together with onions, potatoes and a few other ingredients, you fold in beaten egg whites --> this makes the balls fluffy.

Brigadeiro - Little sweets made with condensed milk, butter and chocolate. After you cook the ingredients, you roll them into little balls with your hands. Then you cover them in chocolate sprinkles and serve them in little paper cups.

Caipirinha - It's made with crushed limes, sugar, ice and cachaça - a strong sugar-cane liquor.

Isn't a food, but a drink, it's called tereré and it's tipical of Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraguay, really cold water and a cup with Illex Paraguaiensis, so you made a infusion and drink with a bomba, something that looks lika a pipe with a filter.
The drink is good and is a lot bitter.

*sorry by the eventual wrong thing in my answer, I'm bad in gramatical rulez... But I'm here to learn, right?
Any corrections are welcome. Thanks!

I really do not know to point out which food is typical here. São Paulo is wellknown as a famous gastronomic center, it boasts loads of restaurants offering a wide range of dishes, which varies from international ones to Brazilian ones. Here you have the opportunity of being served with the most simplest dish or if you prefer, you can have a very sophisticated dish, it is up to you!

When I think of a typical food, I have just a question mark on my mind!! :D

Ailime,

Please consider the following, and let me know the usual stuff. ;)

I really do not know how to point out which food is typical here. Sao Paulo is a world famous gastronomic center, boasting many restaurants offering a wide varity of dishes, from international delights to Brazilian ones. In Sao Paulo you can choose anything from a very simple dish to very sophisticated multi course meals that any world class, five star restaurant would be proud to serve, and all will please and delight your palate.

When I try and think of a typical food from Sao Paulo, I just get confused by the copious conglomerations of victuals that are available.

Words to improve your vocabulary:
Palate
Gastronomic - A great word, Thanks, Ailime
Copious
Conglomerations - Maybe not the best word for this contex but interesting
Victuals

Bill,

Nice rewriting! Yours expresses very well what I meant to convey.
Very interesting the use of the word "delight" referring to the food: ...international delights,.. I have never thought of using like that, good to know!

Thanks again! :D

As I live nowadays nearby a rural area in a coffe zone it was expected family and friends gathered around farms enjoying a gorgeous meal produced from its resources: garden, corn fields, cattle as cows, bulls, pigs, grange. One of the typical food is made by corn, a kind of bandle tied in the center with a thin rope (pamonha). And also made by corn, a kind of pudding (mingau ou curau).
In a september event in an exposition park is roasted a meat roullete served with rice, flour and maionese with potatoes. Usually we can sip a fire-water.

Correcting.. It's just "meant", without "to convey". I do not know what I was thinking about....
My bad!!
Well, I'm from Minas Gerais, so my typical food is Feijoada xD, it's a very good dish, it has beans, sausages and a lot of meat, and of course, any 'mineiro' has to complement with a delightful and delicious 'farofa' Hmmm....

Hi,

Here in my town, we're descendents of Germans and Italians, people who came to our region around 200 years ago. So, you can imagine how many typical dishes from Germany and Italy we have here... there are really so many options of good foods like lasagnas, pizzas, pastas, hand-made noodles, roasted gooses, grilled pigs, pickled shredded cabbage, potato salad, grilled chickens, sausages, potatoes and so one... And, of course, something that is typical from the south of Brazil, our delicious "churrasco"!

That's it!

"Pirarucu of casaca" is not a fish wearing a smoking, it is a Amazonia`s typical food made of a regional fish from Amazonia, it is seasoning with: piper, tomatoes, flour, bananas, coconut milk, etc. It`s very delicious, it`s similar to codfish.

I wanted send an image, but I cannot, I don`t know yet, they send a error "You must provide a valid auth token or dev key"
