Joguei essa palavra no Google Translate e ele me devolveu significados como "terrível" e "incrível" ou algo de "grande tamanho".
Agora pesquisando no Oxford Learners Dictionary, vi que ele não denota como algo horrível ou terrível, e sim como algo de grande tamanho e/ou excelente e maravilhoso.
Minha dúvida é a seguinte: essa palavra pode realmente significar algo ruim/terrível?

Sim, pode! Ocorre que ao contrário do Português, onde a prevalência desta palavra ainda é com o sentido de algo AMEDRONDATOR/RUIM, em Inglês
