"the Most expensive" x "is More expensive"
Diz-se "is the most expensive knife" ou "is more expensive knife"?

"Is the most expensive knife" quer dizer que é a mais cara, que não há nenhuma faca mais cara do que ela. Já "is more expensive" significa que a faca é mais cara do que alguma outra faca específica.
And to illustrate let´s say you can be seeing a set of knives (I mean a group, not a kit), among them there is a Tramontina.
You could mention the fact that Tramontina "is the most expensive knife" of all them. You think of all kinds of knives.
Let´s say you see now a set of Tramontina knives, you see a paring knife and a chef´s knife, then the chief´s knife is more expensive than the paring one.
You compare two given knives, or you compare a knive with some of a group, but not all knives.
The most - is the highest limit in a group, of all elements of the group.
More expensive (than) - is a comparison between two or more elements of the group, in which you single out one (the more...) but not all group.
