After the plane crash that devastated the tiny Chapecoense soccer team club, Sao Paulo teams might contribute financially (with cash donations) or lending out players to the rebuilding of the team.
Should they find it difficult/impossible for the team to be back on its feet they wouldn´t help; I mean, the English language has such psyche. Or at least it generally seems.

Indeed, in such events they don´t (usually) express "tentar se reerguer" in English. Because helping is already an act in which they express they believe the team will raise from the ashes, so they help it out....e emprestimos de jogadores para o time tentar se reerguer.

To emerge - would be meaning "resurface", etc.
