We have "gaffe" in English too. Blunder, slip-up, clanger.
Regards
Com que ficaria blunder em uma frase para se referir a um erro grosseiro?

Ex: it's been a long time that he studies English, ele não deveria estar cometendo esses erros grosseiros.

Usaria blunder neste caso? Com seria "make a blunder"?

Thanks!

How about the idiomatic expression "to put your foot in it".

Exemplo: He really put his foot init when he told his boss that he was really fat.

"To commit a faux pas" would be another option.

Ref. thefreedictionary

"Traditionalists grumbled that the Mids, as they are known to friends, had committed a faux pas by meeting the baby before his royal grandfather."

Ref. Telegraph
Inclui um exemplo para que você veja como o verbo 'blunder' pode ser usado nesse sentido:

"Just pray that he doesn't blunder again and get the names wrong" (reze para ele não cometer outra gafe e trocar os nomes).

Ref. Infoplease
Also: To put one's foot in one's mouth (idiom): to say something that is really embarrassing

Charles put his foot in his mouth when he asked the overweight girl if she was pregnant.

A: This is a great party.
B: Yeah it is!
A: Whose house is this? It is so ugly.
B: It’s my house.
A: Oh. I just put my foot in my mouth.

. I see this is a quote but I have to say I never heard "to make a goof". We always say, "He goofed up." Gaffe is more formal so I think in an article "goofed up" would not be used. "He committed a gaffe..." We often use committed, the same as in Portuguese with many of these synonyms rather than made, although made is not wrong. It is very informal and sounds odd with some of the synonyms. Of course, the expressions are as stated.
