Mas isso não ajuda (em nada) a sua doença/o seu estado de saúde (que já não é essas coisas...)

Outro exemplo:
Either way, her smoking doesn't help with her condition. She should go and seek the help of a medical professional.

...fumar não ajuda no caso dela (que tem uma doença), só (ou talvez) piora (a doença/os sintomas, etc).
...fumar não ajuda no caso da doença dela.

Essa é a idéia.

NeyF, that one is in a different context. That of the Doctor tried something before, and it didn´t work. So, "isso também não ajudou no tratamento (do mal/da doença, etc)..."

The previous context was something that would only deteriorate his health.

It´s good that you found that joke, of a guy that went to the doctor´s and was given pills, as he didn´t get any better the doctor gave him a shot, which didn´t help his condition either.
Finally, the doctor said to him that he should stand in the draught. At this, the guy argued "but this way I will get pneumonia!" and the doctor responds "I know, that I can cure!" :-)

Thanks for bringing up this other context to the discussion, good insight indeed!
