Existe um termo em inglês para extinção de punibilidade? Isso é um termo jurídico do direito penal, e significa que uma pessoa não poderá mais ser punida por um crime. Isso ocorre pela prescrição, por revogação da legislação penal, entre outros casos.

Extinction of criminal liability. As you pointed out criminal liability could be extinguished by prescription, repeal - revocation, amending, etc. Of some item of the penal code/criminal law.
And in some other cases, it varies from country to country, to illustrate the point, there are some places in which there is partial extinction (by commutation of sentence, presidential pardon, allowances for good conduct - while serving sentence) and in others.
In Brazil such extinction is more talked about because of the "issue" of prescription (say, Brazilian statute of limitation). That is, in practice at lower courts the offender (which usually can affor the bests lawyers - the best paid lawyers) is convicted, but it appeals and appeals, then appeals times again.
When the defendant is finally found guilty, he or she walks because it (the criminal liability) was extinguished by prescription.
