Quite a bit - Tradução em português

Aproveitando o gancho, peço para quem for responder dizer se o quite intensifica o muito ou o pouco dinheiro.

A tradução parcial é : Nós fizemos vários investimentos errados e perdemos... Muito dinheiro (ou muito pouco?). A dúvida consiste no fato de bit significar um pouquinho.

Quite a bit means "a considerable amount of something" (money/time/workout, what you have). In a way, it´s a "mitigator" of sorts it softens the amount, say in "quite a bit of money" it means "much money" (muito dinheiro/uma quantia considerável/uma "bela" de uma quantia/uma quantia e tanto/um dinheiro e tanto, etc).
As opposed to an obscene amount of money; even so, it´s "much money" not a paultry sum.

Not that quite a bit of money doesn´t matter...to (again) the obscene wealthy people a million dollars could just be quite a bit! To others some thousands reals would stablish somebody as a rich guy!
Plus, quite a bit today and quite a bit tomorrow could be something! So sometimes it is used as some kind of alert/warning, other times just an intensifier meaning "much" - meaning somebody is stating that it wasn´t "small potatoes" (a small feat/small stuff).

People get puzzled by the "bit" part that somehow is the opposite (a small amount) leading many to connect the dots and think it as quite + (small amount). This time it doesn´t work this way!
