Hello zumstein!

Creio que seja Express Kidnapping. Veja a definição:

The victim is abducted, then forced to withdraw their own ransom from a bank or ATM. If all goes well, the victim is released afterwards, generally after having been relieved of all valuables on their person (and occasionally in their residence). This type of kidnapping is popular in urban areas, due to the prolific ATMs. In some cases, this will develop into a standard kidnapping, with further ransom demanded of the family or employer. In other cases, the victim is held overnight, to get around a one-day withdrawal limit.

Boa sorte.
The currently used expression for "sequestro relãmpago' is carjacking.

Bons estudos.
Ola Donay: Actually when it started to take place in USA about 15 years ago the robbers meant to get the cars only, but nowadays they take advantage and force the victms to withdraw money from their accounts at the ATM machines. So i guess it seems pretty much like our so commom crime. I can´t see another expression any closer. This kind of crime is also pretty common in Portugal.
Take care buddy

Ho're you doing breckenfeld?

Think lighting kidnap perfectly suits the the expression "sequestro relâmpago"

In Brazil when someone is actually taken hostage this is sometimes known as a "lightning kidnap".

Thomas 7 62 296
I do not recall hearing a term for "sequesro relampago" in the USA. I am not saying that it does not happen, but I am saying I do not know a term for it.

"Hijack" is when a truck is stolen for its cargo. (By the way, for a hijacking to take place, there must be a victim. No victim? Then it is a "grand-theft-auto".) In Los Angeles I read many police reports about truckloads of shrimp, steaks, etc. being stolen or hijacked.

A "skyjack" is the theft of an airplane by terrorists or robbers. Again, there must be human victims.

"To jack up" means several things: to hurt, insult/belittle, harshly criticize, etc.
Give me your money or I will jack you up. = Give me your money or I will harm you.
Fred had a motorcycle accident and really got jacked up. = Fred had a motorcycle accident and was badly hurt.
The boss got angry because I was late again and he jacked me up. = The boss got angry because I was late again and he scolded me harshly.

Seems like the term "fast kidnapping" is being used already, Thomas.
Unfortunately they export MO (modus operandi) fast these days.

PPAULO 6 49 1.3k
Indeed it was:
(1) a (random) attack that developed into a (2) hostage situation with a siege (by the Australina special forces) that run for 17 hours.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news ... es-4817512

Or more properly the so-called (3) lone wolf attack, when it´s out of fanatism or terrorism-related.
http://news.yahoo.com/attacks-challenge ... 25772.html

As for the bank situation you asked, it would be a "bank robbery, with hostage taking" or a "hostage situation."

https://www.timesofisrael.com/second-gr ... dney-cafe/

Hostage-taker -sequestrador.
Thomas eu poderia usar o verbo to hostage-take para essa situação de sequestro de uma maneira informal?

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/defin ... age-taking
Ricardo F. Bernardi 6 26 454
You should read: Sequestro-relâmpago.

Ex:
Carjacking: the crime of stealing a car while someone is in it by using physical force or threats.

Skyjack:to take control of a flying aircraft by force, usually in order to make political demands

Hijack:to take control of an aircraft or other vehicle during a journey, especially using violence.

Kidnap:to take a person away illegally by force, usually in order to demand money in exchange for releasing them.

Hostage-taking:The act of seizing or holding a person as security for the fulfilment of a condition.(fazer reféns).

Sequestro de navio:

Captain Phillips is a 2013 American biographical survival thriller film directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi. The film is inspired by the true story of the 2009 Maersk Alabama hijacking, an incident during which merchant mariner Captain Richard Phillips was taken hostage by pirates in the Indian Ocean led by Abduwali Muse.

Eloá Pimentel hostage crisis refers to the kidnapping, hostage situation and murder of Brazilian 15-year-old girl Eloá Cristina Pimentel in October 13, 2008, which was accompanied by the shooting of her friend Nayara Silva, both committed by Eloá's ex-boyfriend Lindemberg Alves. The incident received major media exposure not only because of the shootings, but also because of the mistakes committed by the police of São Paulo, and also because Eloá was held as a hostage for 100 hours – the longest kidnapping ever registered in the state of São Paulo.[1] The trial of Alves started on February 13, 2012, exactly three years and four months after the crime.

1. Tiger kidnapping
Meaning: It usually involves an abduction of any person or thing someone highly values. Instead of demanding money, the captors demand that a second crime be committed on their behalf.
>> Sequestro assistido.

2. Fake kidnapping
Meaning: It is a kidnapping that has been staged by the victim.
>> Falso sequestro

3. Groom kidnapping
Meaning: It is a type of violence against men.
>> Sequestro de homens (para casar).

Bride kidnapping
Meaning: It is a type of violence against women.
>> Sequestro de mulheres (para casar)

Both of these kidnappings represent a phenomenon in the western and eastern parts in India, wherein eligible bachelors are abducted by the bride's family (or vice-versa) and later forcefully married, to avoid heavy dowry costs. Considering the traditional regard for the marriage sacrament, most such marriages are not annulled. Additionally, the groom (or the bride) may suffer criminal charges under Indian dowry law, and end up fighting lengthy legal battles.

4. Political kidnapping
Meaning: It is a type of kidnapping which is conducted to obtain political concessions from security forces or governments.
>> Sequestro político

5. Crimping (a.k.a. Shanghaiing)
Meaning: It is the practice of kidnapping people to serve a member of the military by coercive techniques such as trickery, intimidation, or violence. It was very common in war zones like Shanghai in the 80's and 90's. In this specific case, to be or to get shanghaied meant to be forced to become part of a sailing crew by unscrupulous means (for instance by being drugged).
>> Intimidação militar

6. Ship hijack(ing)
Meaning: To take control of a ship by force, usually in order to practice robbery.
>> Sequestro de navio(s)

7. Extraordinary rendition (a.k.a. Irregular rendition and Forced rendition)
Meaning: It is the U.S. Government-sponsored abduction and extrajudicial transfer of a person from one country to another that has predominantly been carried out by the United States government with the consent of other countries.
>> Rendição extraordinária

8. Forced disappearance (a.k.a. Enforced disappearance)
Meaning: It occurs when a person is secretly abducted or imprisoned by a state or political organization or by a third party with the authorization, support, or acquiescence of a state or political organization, followed by a refusal to acknowledge the person's fate and whereabouts, with the intent of placing the victim outside the protection of the law.
Eu aproveitei a deixa do tópico"sequestro" relâmpago.
