Hi everyone!
Estou traduzindo um texto, e encontrei a seguinte frase:
The captain told me that he would carry it back to England for me
A tradução que encontrei foi :
O capitão disse-me que levaria de volta para Inglaterra para mim
Mas essa tradução me pareceu estranha, carry-back realmente significa trazer de volta/ devolver?

Your translation is good as it is, no need to change, "levar de volta/trazer de volta".
Depending on context:
"trazer de volta" suggests that you or someone else brought something and then you are coming back with it to the original place.
"levar de volta" could be that somethig strayed from a place (e.g. An animal) and you are bringing it back (e.g. To the village). So, you didn´t bring it from there, but you are coming with it back to the place.
Portuguese can be a bit tricky, sometimes!
