Even worse, I literally ran... - Tradução em português

Bom dia a todos,

Estou me batendo para entender o seguinte texto:

"Even worse, I literally ran that car into the ground. I would drop the pedal to the floor on a regular basis and eventually I started doing stupid stuff like slamming it straight from drive into reverse while going 80 miles an hour –"

"It wasn’t long before I found myself maturing into my teenage years, where I began to apply some of the lessons learned during my childhood, only to find that I was to continue an already-proud tradition of financial mistakes. What did my transition into adulthood teach me"

1."Even worse, I literally ran that car into the ground. I would drop the pedal to the floor on a regular basis and eventually I started doing stupid stuff like slamming it straight from drive into reverse while going 80 miles an hour –"

3.It wasn’t long before I found myself maturing into my teenage years, where I began to apply some of the lessons learned during my childhood, only to find that I was to continue an already-proud tradition of financial mistakes. What did my transition into adulthood teach me"

Me parece irônico neste caso.

Boa sorte!

Idiom alert!

To run into the ground = to destroy, to ruin. According to yourdictionary.com, usage alludes to pushing something so far that one, in effect, buries it. [Early 1800s] It seems to me that for someone to drive a car into the ground like that, one must have enough money and probably owns a garage with 10 cars in it.

Drop the pedal. I would think of "drop the pedal" as analagous to "enfiar o pé (lá em baixo)" or "put the pedal to the metal" (press, put or hold the throttle pedal to the floor with your [right] foot).
