Far away up the empty beach I heard a scream and saw a thing like a enormous insect go flying into the sky.

Minha tradução: Escutei um grito vindo da praia deserta/vazia e vi uma coisa parecida com um inseto gigante voando em direção ao céu.

A dúvida é: Podemos sempre omitir o from em frases como essas, em inglês? Eu esperava encontrar "From far away up...", inclusive há diversas frases assim quando usamos o site de pesquisas da Google. No entanto, esse autor o omite.

Yes, it's implicit. One assumes is "from" in more informal communication. You see that a lot in novels.
With that, you are finding your way up to lower intermediate or intermediate level, one struggles somehow with more solid vocab, but then it worth the effort. This book has been instrumental on this issue, a stepping stone for your learning at this time.
