Desde criança sempre tive curiosidade sobre o real significado de "Grand Theft Auto" alguém tem alguma pista ou possível tradução que seja coerente?

Indo ao Google em inglês, temos:
- Grand Theft Auto means the crime of stealing cars (Penal Law Article 155.30).
- Grand Theft Auto é um tipo penal, em inglês, usado para identificar furtos de veículos automotores com um valor maior de $400 USD. "Theft" significa furto, "grand" é o termo usado para designar furtos de valor elevado e "auto" designa o objeto do crime, nesse caso sendo veículos como carros e caminhões. No Brasil, a tradução chegou como O Grande Ladrão de Carros, (em Portugal como "Grand Roubo de Carros) apesar de o título do jogo fazer referência ao nome legal do crime em inglês.
