Setting high standards means to create rules or guidelines of high quality.

The standards can be expectations for behavior, work, contributions, goals, etc. among employees.
vc n quis dizer high standarDs?

pela sua frase, pra mim signifika "pradrões altos"

"se uma empreza quer q seus empregados lhe rendam bastante dinheiro, então deve-se estabelecer padrões altos e dar a seus funcionarios algo que possa deixá-los empolgados.

The standards can be expectations for behavior, work, contributions, goals, etc. among employees.

Standards can be viewed as criteria that must be met.

Example:

When applying for colleges, I have high standards. I only applied to Ivy League Schools because hey are known for excellence in education.

Example:
She will never do that. She has high standards and is a very moral person.

Example:
The standards for admission to some colleges are too high for many underpriviledged students to meet, so the colleges relax the standards for disadvantaged youth to give them a chance to study at a good school. This process is called affirmative action by some, and reverse discrimination by others.

"Affirmative action refers to policies that take "race, color, religion, sex or national origin"[1] into consideration. The focus of such policies ranges from employment and education to public contracting and health programs. “Affirmative action” is action taken to increase the representation of women and minorities in areas of employment, education, and business from which they have been historically excluded."

Mary,

Does it have to do with being demanding?

Did anybody notice the lack of subject-pronoun agreement in that sentence?

"If a business wants its people to make a lot of money for them, then it must set HIGH STANDARTS and give employees something they can get excited about."

Pretty low standard of English if you ask me...
yeah ,you're right.
but, couldn't this be referring to the people who own the business, maybe?
even so, it's a mistake indeed.
Obrigado gente, ajudou bastante, obrigado mesmo, Deus abençõe a todos!
